LiNK Grant Update for September

LiNK Grant Update for September

Our work for the LiNK grant is underway!  This grant is making us learn new things and challenging our staff!  if we dare to believe that if we give this grant our best efforts, think how much our students could and will gain. It is powerful and lots of work, but it will be worth it in the end.

As a district, all students are taking the iReady assessments.  K-8 is taking both math and reading and high school is using the reading assessment  This test is a change from previous years. Previously, we used the STAR test for both math and reading at both the middle and high school.  The iReady assessments are diagnostic tests that give us an idea of where students are at, such as their grade level, and will provide us with the skills and standards that students are struggling with the most.  This data will be used in our Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s)

Atchison Elementary School went through an initial assessment to see how “family friendly” each school is at welcoming families into the school community.

Atchison is ready to launch their learning of Balanced Literacy. They will have a Literacy consultant start working with them building their capacity.  AHS is in the beginning stages of using a new curriculum called ThinkCerca and the middle school Word Gen. We will have more information about each of these in a couple of weeks!

Everyone is working hard to try new things to help our students be more successful!  Thank you to everyone for all your hard work so far this year!
