USD 409 Families: We will be running afternoon routes on Friday. Although the forecast "feels like" temperatures are a tad cooler due to lower humidity levels, it will still be hot. Soaring Student of the Week! Last week's Soaring Student was Atticus Wilson from Mrs. Rawls's 4th-grade class. Students at AES can earn recognition for positive behavior during the week. When staff members see great choices being made, students can receive a SOAR slip with specific praise. Every Friday, the names of every student who earned a SOAR slip are read during the morning opening. All student slips are entered into a drawing, and one student is randomly chosen to receive donuts for his or her class.

Check out some fun facts about Brian below! 💛 Brian's beginning his 20th year as a school psychologist. 💛 He moved to Atchison with his wife, Courtney, a Firefighter for Atchison, and 20-month-old daughter, Idalynn, from KC to raise her in a small town. 💛 A fun fact about Brian is he interviewed 20 years ago for 409 but couldn't see himself living in a small town, and now he's back! 💛 Brian is most excited about getting to know and work alongside the students, parents, and dedicated staff of USD 409. We have 5 days left until the start of school...can you believe it! Today on our countdown, a reminder that all students eat free this year! You must complete the Household Economic Survey to help families with their textbook and tech fees. If you didn't do that during enrollment, there will be copies at each of the schools. #WeAre409

We are back with day 6 on our countdown to the start of school! This year you will hear a lot about regular attendance. You will hear this often and in every building, "9 Days or Less, For School Success". Any absence counts as one of a child's 9 days. In the next month or so, you will get more information about how we can help ensure students are at school on time every day! #WeAre409

We are 7 days until the start of the school year! Today's reminder is to make sure to sign up for the bus if you didn't when you enrolled. The sooner you get signed up the sooner we can get students in the system! #WeAre409

8 days until the start of the 2023-24 school year! Don't forget to pay your iPad fee. Students will not get their iPads until this is paid for. You can do that through enrollment, online, or call your child's school and they can help you! #WeAre409
