Just a reminder that there is No School tomorrow for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Dear USD 409 Staff and Families,
We hope this message finds you safe and warm after the historic blizzard that has extended our holiday break this week. We are thrilled to welcome students back tomorrow as we kick off the second semester!
As we prepare for school to resume, we understand that the extreme snow accumulation has created challenges across our community. While we’ve worked hard to ensure our buildings are ready for students, and the city and county are working non-stop to clear snow on the streets and roads, conditions are still not ideal.
Here are a few reminders to help ensure everyone’s safety tomorrow:
Bus Transportation: Our buses will be running, but delays are likely as drivers navigate snowy routes. We encourage families to wait with their children at bus stops, dress them warmly for the weather, and be patient, as buses may be behind schedule. If a road is impassible or we are short drivers, we will send out text alerts. If you can transport on your own for the next few days, you are encouraged to do so.
Ultimately, every situation is different for every family, and if you are uncomfortable with sending your child in these conditions, we understand. While safety always comes first, we’re excited to see our students back in classrooms, ready to learn and grow together. Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we navigate these wintry conditions.
Dr. Nugent
